56 Suspects Arrested After Kuresoi North Violence

The National Police Service has arrested 56 suspects in connection with violence that erupted on Friday, June 19, 2026, during a public event in Kuresoi North Sub-County, Nakuru County.

In a statement on Saturday, June 20, NPS said the event was attended by senior government officials, county leaders and members of the public.

“The National Police Service (NPS) has launched investigations into violent disturbances that erupted yesterday, 19th June 2026, during a public event in Kuresoi North Sub-County, Nakuru County.

“The event was attended by Governor H.E Susan Kihika, senior government officials, county leaders, and members of the public. So far, police have arrested 56 suspects in connection with the incident. All remain in custody as investigations continue,” read the statement in part.

Police officers also recovered a number of items believed to have been used during the disturbances on Friday afternoon.

“Officers recovered several exhibits from the suspects, believed to have been used in the disturbance,” NPS added.

Police have launched a manhunt for Kuresoi North Member of Parliament Alfred Mutai after he was named the prime suspect in the violent.

“The Service is pursuing the prime suspect, Hon. Alfred Mutai, who is currently on the run. Police officers have launched a manhunt to apprehend him and other persons connected to the incident,” the NPS said on Friday.

According to the police, the violence that broke out following a confrontation between suspected goons allied to Mutai and supporters of Governor Susan Kihika.

The incident left three victims with gunshot wounds to their arms and legs, and they were rushed to Molo Level 4 Hospital to receive treatment.

The violence also left at least three vehicles, including one belonging to MP Mutai, destroyed, and a bus which had ferried tents and chairs to the venue torched.
