Activist Bob Njagi has been freed after the Kajiado Law Courts dismissed a treason case filed against him.
Njagi, who was arrested on Thursday, June 24, was arraigned before Principal Magistrate Edgar Kagoni at the Kajiado Law Courts.
He was represented by Siaya Governor James Orengo, Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, and other lawyers.
The court granted Njagi a cash bail of Ksh100,000 and directed him to report daily to the Kitengela Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) office.
He was further directed by the court to appear before the High Court in Nairobi on July 14, 2026, for further proceedings.
Babu Owino confirmed the release of Njagi and urged investigative agencies to ensure they have adequate evidence before charging individuals in court.
“Today at Kajiado Law Courts we represented activist Bob Njagi who was charged with treason. The court found that the case had no merit and dismissed it.
“We would like to remind the DCI that Kenya is a country governed by law. Ensure you have enough evidence before presenting any law-abiding citizen to court,” he wrote.

Governor Orengo, on his part, lauded the Kadiado Law Courts for upholding their integrity and resisting political manipulation.
“Today’s dismissal of treason charges against Bob Njagi by the Kajiado Law Courts is a victory for the rule of law. We commend the court for upholding its integrity and resisting political manipulation,” he stated.
Njagi was apprehended in Kajiado County over allegations of inciting members of the public during the June 25 Gen Z anniversary demonstrations.
