Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a 52-year-old man following a viral video in which he allegedly made inflammatory remarks and issued violent threats related to the 2027 General Election.
In a statement on Saturday, June 13, DCI said the suspect, identified as Isaiah Murithi Andrew, was apprehended in the Shabab area in Nakuru after investigators launched inquiries into the widely shared video clip.
According to the DCI Andrew, who describes himself as a traditional healer and serves as a speaker at a local Bunge la Mwananchi forum.
“Detectives in Nakuru West have apprehended a 52-year-old man following the circulation of a viral video in which he made inflammatory remarks and issued violent threats concerning the upcoming 2027 General Election.
“The suspect, identified as Isaiah Murithi Andrew, is a self-proclaimed traditional healer and a speaker for a local ‘Bunge la Mwananchi.’ His arrest took place in the Shabab area after investigators began inquiries into the widely shared video clip,” DCI stated.
In the video, Andrew is seen inciting unlawful assembly by threatening armed violence and calling for resistance against authority.
The investigative agency claimed that the remarks attracted the attention of law enforcement agencies due to their inflammatory nature, raising significant concerns about public safety.
The suspect is currently in custody, undergoing processing and interrogation as investigations continue.
“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) remains steadfast in its commitment to maintaining law and order. Any form of incitement or threats that undermine peace and national security will be addressed firmly and in accordance with the law,” DCI stated.
This comes weeks after DCI detectives arrested Jacaranda Bunge la Mwanachi member Evans Onyango Kawala because of inflammatory utterances.
Kawala was apprehended by detectives from the Operations Support Unit (OSU) at Shujaa Mall in Kayole.
“Detectives from the DCI have arrested a suspect linked to inflammatory public utterances that have gone viral across social media platforms, with content deemed highly inciteful and a serious threat to public cohesion and national stability,” DCI announced.
