Chelsea Football Club has officially announced the appointment of Liam Rosenior as the new head coach of the men’s team, securing his services on a contract that extends until 2032.
The lengthy commitment, one of the longest managerial deals in recent Premier League history, underscores the club’s strategic shift towards long-term stability and a progressive coaching philosophy.
Rosenior, 41, arrives at Stamford Bridge after a successful tenure at RC Strasbourg, a fellow club within the BlueCo ownership model.
During his debut season in France, he notably guided Strasbourg to a seventh-place finish in Ligue 1, securing European qualification for the first time in 19 years.
This achievement, coupled with his reputation for building expressive, attack-minded teams and fostering player development, made him a leading candidate for the Chelsea role.
In his inaugural statement, Rosenior expressed his profound honor and commitment to the club. “I am extremely humbled and honoured to be appointed Head Coach of Chelsea Football Club. This is a club with a unique spirit and a proud history of winning trophies,” he stated.
He emphasized his dedication to protecting the club’s identity and creating a team that embodies its values, with teamwork, unity, and togetherness at the core of his philosophy.
Rosenior replaces Enzo Maresca, who departed on January 1st after a 19-month tenure.
Interim manager Calum McFarlane will oversee Chelsea’s Premier League clash against Fulham on Wednesday, with Rosenior expected to be in attendance before taking charge of his first training session on Thursday.
His first competitive match will be the FA Cup third-round tie against Charlton Athletic on Saturday.
Rosenior’s backroom staff, including Kalifa Cisse and Justin Walker, will also be joining him in West London.
