The Indian division of Chinese automaker BYD has added three new SUVs to its range of electric vehicles, with the aim of leading the Indian electric vehicle market.
The new versions include Dynamic, Premium, and Superior variants of the BYD ATTO 3, as well as a stunning Cosmos Black model, giving users a variety of options.
The introductory price of the Dynamic model starts at around $30,000 ex-showroom, making eco-friendly driving more affordable for Indian customers.
The expansion is a direct response to the phenomenal success and customer interest in the original BYD ATTO 3, intending to cater to a wider customer base by offering multiple options, BYD India said in a statement last week.
Each variant has been tailored to meet the specific needs of Indian customers. The range can charge from 0 to 80 percent in less than 50 minutes.
The vehicles come with a full range of features, including seven airbags, a panoramic sunroof, and a 360-degree holographic image system.
Experts believe that BYD’s growing presence in the Indian market reflects a serious push to lead the EV sector.
Certified by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), the new variants underline BYD India’s emphasis on performance and safety.
According to ARAI, the Premium, and Superior models have an astonishing range of 521 kilometers, powered by a 60.48 kWh battery, while the Dynamic variant has a 49.92 kWh battery.
Indian EV companies, including Tata and Mahindra, are focusing on moderate pricing strategies to remain competitive in the face of market challenges.
This approach aims to strike a balance between affordability and high technology to attract a wider consumer base.
The Indian government’s desire to increase domestic EV production could lead to large-scale entry by Chinese automakers into the local market, according to an analysis published in March by the Global Trade Research Initiative think tank.
