Nine regional tourism circuits have been introduced by the government as part of a market diversification strategy meant to draw in both domestic and foreign travelers.
These nationwide circuits, according to Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife Rebecca Miano, are intended to boost Kenya’s tourism sector by meeting both new and existing trends and desires while keeping conservation goals in mind.
“We have incorporated emerging niches such as adventure, sports, culture, eco-tourism and wellness tourism. Each region offers a unique reason to visit, and we encourage travelers to savor the diverse experiences,” said the CS.
The Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife reports that, in 2023, Kenya’s tourist industry had a notable increase in arrivals, rising from 1.48 million in 2022 to 2 million.
With aspirations to attain 5 million visitors within the next two to three years, the East African nation hopes to welcome 3 million tourists by the end of 2024.
According to Miano, the recently disclosed circuits are a part of the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife’s ongoing efforts to highlight undiscovered jewels and reinvent tourism experiences to increase both domestic and international visitation.
She said that as part of the larger Tembea Kenya agenda the main initiative to increase domestic travel the ministry will fund focused marketing initiatives to promote the circuits.
