Labour Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua has flagged an image showing him kneeling beside President William Ruto during an event.
In a statement on Tuesday, January 20, CS Mutua stated that the image is not genuine and was created using AI for misinformation purposes.
The Labour CS cautioned members of the public against spreading the image or any other unverified images, since it amounts to digital misinformation.
“I wish to alert the public that a manipulated, AI-generated image is currently circulating online, falsely portraying me in a compromising and misleading situation. The image is not real and has been digitally altered to spread misinformation and create misunderstanding.
“I urge all Kenyans to verify information from credible sources and to avoid sharing unverified or sensational content. Let us work together to stop the spread of digital misinformation,” said CS Mutua.
This comes after James Ng’ang’a dismissed widespread images circulating online that appeared to show the demolition of the Neno Evangelism Ministry Church near the Nairobi Railway Station.
Speaking on Tuesday, Pastor Ng’ang’a said he received several calls and texts from people telling him that his church had been demolished.
“I have been receiving calls and texts. People are telling me to take heart because my church is being demolished. No church has been demolished,” Ng’ang’a stated.
He went on to explain that his church’s structure was established on land legally acquired from the Central Bank of Kenya.
“The Neno Evangelism Church structure I bought it from the Central Bank of Kenya. Both Kenya Railways and the Central Bank need to mind their business; if they stole from each other, that’s on them,” he added.
