Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested three suspects and recovered two firearms, ammunition, and several other items believed to be linked to criminal activities.
In a statement, DCI said officers from Kuria West conducted the operation in Nyangoto, Kuria West Sub-County after receiving credible intelligence.
“An intelligence-led operation in Migori has led to the arrest of three suspects and the recovery of two pistols in Nyangoto, Kuria West Sub-County.
“Acting on credible intelligence, detectives from Migori, backed by officers from Kuria West, swooped on the suspects’ hideout, recovering two pistols and five rounds of 9mm ammunition,’ DCI stated.
According to the DCI, the officers raided the suspects’ hideout and recovered two pistols and five rounds of 9mm ammunition during the operation.
“Acting on credible intelligence, detectives from Migori, backed by officers from Kuria West, swooped on the suspects’ hideout, recovering two pistols and five rounds of 9mm ammunition,” DCI stated.
The detectives also seized a Subaru Impreza, three motorcycles, three welding machines, two grinding machines, a water pump, power cables, and eight assorted mobile phones.
The three suspects, identified as Charles Mwita, Joshua Obachi and Ignitius Likhanga, were arrested and remain in police custody as they undergo processing ahead of their arraignment in court.
The recovered firearms, ammunition and other items have been detained as exhibits as investigations continue.
The DCI commended members of the public for providing timely information that aided the operation, saying community cooperation remains vital in the fight against crime.
The agency also urged Kenyans to continue reporting suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through its anonymous reporting channels as it intensifies efforts to combat criminal activities across the country.
