The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has summoned Roy Sasaka Telewa, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF), for questioning regarding allegations of possessing unexplained wealth valued at approximately Ksh 1 billion.
This development follows a search operation conducted at Telewa’s residence and office on January 8, 2026, as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged corruption and procurement irregularities.
The EACC’s inquiry centers on assets reportedly acquired between January 1, 2021, and January 8, 2026.
Investigators are also scrutinizing procurement-related dealings from Telewa’s previous tenure as Head of Procurement at the Kenya Deposit Insurance Corporation (KDIC).
Before his appointment at NGAAF, Telewa held several senior public positions, including CEO of the National Youth Council and Deputy Head of Procurement at the Competition Authority of Kenya.
The Commission stated that the search operation yielded “critical evidentiary material” that will aid the ongoing investigations.
Telewa is expected to appear at the EACC Integrity Centre to record a statement. The EACC emphasizes that the inquiry remains active, and no conclusions have been reached yet.
This case highlights the EACC’s intensified efforts to combat corruption and recover illicitly acquired public resources.
The Commission has previously secured significant wins, including a High Court ruling requiring a former Nairobi County official to forfeit Ksh 318 million for unexplained wealth.
In another instance, the EACC froze assets worth Ksh 537 million belonging to a junior Nairobi County Procurement Officer whose wealth was disproportionate to his legitimate income.
The EACC’s mandate allows for the forfeiture of assets whose value is disproportionate to a public officer’s known legitimate source of income, in the absence of a satisfactory explanation.
