Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has announced that he will make a political comeback in January 2025 following his impeachment from office.
Speaking on Sunday, Gachagua said his fallout with President William Ruto allowed him to re-strategize his next political move.
The former DP noted that it was good President Ruto’s true colors were revealed when he allegedly supported his ouster.
”This January, I will tell you what we have agreed and it is good that I have said that my friend the President did well in bringing on this political fight with the people of the mountain as we have now known him,’’ said Gachagua.
He added, “Next year, the political movement that will come out of Mt Kenya region will make the 2002 movement look like a joke.”
Gachagua said he had held talks with church leaders, business people, professionals, and like-minded leaders following his removal from office.
”We are talking with our church leaders, business people, professionals, and all the brained leaders who love our people,’’ Gachagua stated.
At the same time, Gachagua praised MPs from the Mount Kenya region who stood by him during the impeachment process.
Further, he revealed that he was the only person who would say No to President Ruto during cabinet meetings.
“I was the only one in Cabinet who was against it. The president said no, you do not have to do what is popular, you do what is right. I said “that is okay” but a majority of Kenyans are saying it is not right,” said Gachagua.
