I am Ready for Any Outcome in My Impeachment Case – Gachagua

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said he is ready to accept whatever outcome comes from the High Court ruling on his impeachment.

Speaking on Sunday, June 7, during a church service at PCEA Muteero in Karen, Nairobi, Gachagua expressed confidence that the High Court will rule in his favour.

“I was removed from office against the law. Tomorrow, the court will issue its verdict. We are ready for whatever outcome.

“If the three judges rule that we were treated unfairly and against the Constitution and lift the impeachment, we shall be grateful to God. We will also be grateful that the justice system in Kenya works,” said Gachagua.

At the same time, the former deputy president stated that if the courts rule against him, he will appeal the case, continuing to seek justice through the judiciary.

“If the ruling goes the other way, it is still okay. We will still have an opportunity to go to the Court of Appeal and follow the legal remedies that have been provided by the Constitution,” Gachagua remarked.

Furthermore, Gachagua urged his supporters to remain calm and peaceful as they await the court’s ruling and in the aftermath of the decision, underscoring the importance of maintaining peace.

“I want to urge my supporters across the country to remain calm and peaceful, irrespective of the outcome. I am a peaceful person, and I want to urge calm,” Gachagua added.

The impeachment case against the former Deputy President has been ongoing for over two years, and the ruling will be delivered tomorrow at Milimani Law Courts after a lengthy and grueling hearing.

Gachagua was removed from office on October 18, 2024, after a majority of Senators upheld the impeachment done by the National Assembly.
