KMTC Student Found Dead at Nairobi Campus

The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) has confirmed the death of one of its students at the Nairobi Campus.

In a statement, KMTC identified the deceased student as Ms. Ann Odhiambo Adhiambo, a Higher Diploma student in Clinical Medicine.

Adhiambo, who joined the Nairobi Campus in September 2024, was found dead within the campus on Wednesday, July 7, 2026.

“The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) fraternity is deeply saddened by the tragic news of the demise of our student, Ms. Ann Odhiambo Adhiambo, which occurred on July 7, 2026.

“Ms. Adhiambo was a student pursuing a Higher Diploma in Clinical Medicine at Nairobi Campus, having joined the College in September 2024. She was found dead within KMTC Nairobi Campus,” KMTC stated.

The institution said the matter was immediately reported to the relevant security agencies, which have launched investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding her death.

“The incident has been reported to the relevant security agencies, and investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding her death are ongoing. The College Management is working closely with the relevant authorities as the investigations continue,” the statement read.

Further, KMTC expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing the student’s death as tragic.

“On behalf of the College, I express our heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the family, student fraternity, staff, and friends during this very difficult time. The College stands with the family in grief and will continue to offer the necessary support during this painful period,” KMTC Chief Executive Officer Dr. Kelly Oluoch stated.

A postmortem examination conducted on Friday, July 10, revealed that the KMTC student died from suffocation and multiple internal injuries.

The postmortem also indicated that she was bleeding from her nose and had marks on her tongue, suggesting she was assaulted.

Samples from the body were collected for toxicology tests as investigations into the circumstances surrounding her death continue.
