Missing KFS Employee Esther Keige Found Dead

Kenya Forest Service (KFS) Legal Services Manager Esther Wairimu Keige has been found dead weeks after she was reported missing.

The body of the KFS employee was discovered on Monday in a coffee plantation in Juja, Kiambu County.

Juja Sub-County Police Commander Isaac Kombo confirmed the discovery, saying the remains were found at Area 4 near Karimenu.

The late Wairimu’s brother has also confirmed that her body had been found. Two family members visited the scene and positively identified the remains.

According to reports, the body was found by a worker who was cutting grass at Fusion Farm in the Kiaora area. The worker then alerted his supervisor, who reported the matter to Juja Police Station.

The body has since been moved to the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital mortuary pending an autopsy.

The 54-year-old went missing on June 10 after leaving her office along Kiambu Road.

In a statement, KFS expressed concern over her whereabouts and called on members of the public to assist with any information that may help locate her.

The service urged anyone who may have seen or interacted with her to report to the nearest police station or contact the provided hotline numbers.

Wairimu’s colleague in the legal profession,  Caroline Oduor, mourned her and extended sympathies to the deceased’s family, acknowledging the immense pain they are enduring following the heartbreaking discovery.

“After weeks of anxious searching since 9th June, Esther Wairimu Keige, Advocate, has sadly been found dead in Gatundu Forest.

“My deepest condolences to her family and loved ones during this profoundly difficult time. May they find strength in the face of this devastating loss. May those responsible be identified, brought before the law, and held fully accountable,’ Oduor stated.
