Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has revealed that the Kidundu Stadium, in Vihiga County, will host the 2026 Madarak Day celebrations.
Speaking in a Press Conference after meeting with land owners, around the earmarked Kidundu, Mudavadi said the government will begin the construction of the 10-000 ster dtadium in February.
“This will stop being a dream but a reality. President Ruto had declared that in his term, he was keen to ensure Kidundu is a reality; now we are here to have it as a dream come true,” said Mudavadi.
Mudavadi assured the landowners that due process will be followed to ensure that every affected household will be compensated.
“The government intends to ensure that every landowner is left in a comfortable place once they relinquish their God and parents’ given land,” said PCS.
The Prime CS said that as part of honouring their respect and selflessness for ceding their land for a greater good, their names will be put in the hall of honour at the Stadium once completed.
“From February, under the instructions of H.E. President William Ruto, the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) will begin the construction, which is expected to take four months to be completed,” said Mudavadi.
Once completed, Mudavadi said Kidundu Stadium will be on the national map as a Stadium of its kind, offering the people of Vihiga an opportunity to have their sporting prowess and bring pride to its people.
“Kidundu Stadium is part of the number of huge projects being implemented by the Kenya Kwanza government, including the Mudasa Affordable Housing Project, hostels, Kenya School of government, and markets, including a big one in Mbale town, and several kilometres of roads in Vihiga County,” he said.
On his part, Vihiga Governor Ottichilo said that the efforts by President Ruto and Mudavadi has fruits on Kidundu Stadium.
“We are now ready to welcome those who are coming to construct to start as soon as this coming week,” said Governor Ottichilo.
