Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has vowed to expose all high-ranking government officials who are benefiting from state tenders.
In a statement on Saturday, November 9, Sudi said he was finalizing a report exposing how heads of parastatals had taken advantage of their positions to hijack the government’s procurement operations.
“I’m finalizing an earthshaking report that will expose government officers, majorly heads of procurement in parastatals and ministries who are favoring their own companies under proxies to scoop multimillion government tenders,” said Sudi.
The close Ruto ally explained that the state officials were locking out legitimate businessmen who are qualified for the tenders.
“These well-known individuals are discriminating against and mistreating legit businessmen by locking them out of public government tenders despite being qualified. I will be calling out these culprits one by one who have our ministries in a chokehold,” Sudi added.
The UDA lawmaker is known to be one of the people calling the shots in the current Kenya Kwanza regime, thanks to his proximity to President William Ruto.
Corruption in Kenya’s public institutions remains a significant challenge despite efforts by the government to end it.
According to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), the ministries of Interior, Health, and Transport are the most corrupt, with the average bribe size set to double by 2023.
In April, the US Trade Office said American companies were losing business and contracts in Kenya because top government officials were demanding bribes.
