
President William Ruto has appointed former Bumula Member of Parliament Moses Wekesa Mwambu Mabonga as the new Chairperson of the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA).
According to a gazette notice dated July 24, 2026, Mabonga is set to serve a three-year term.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 12(1)(a) of the Energy Act, as read with Section 51(1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander in Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint Moses Wekesa Mwambu Mabonga,” read part of the statement.
The former Bumula MP replaces Adan Haji Ali, whose appointment was revoked by the Head of State.
President Ruto also re-appointed Eng. Gilbert Maluki as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the National Irrigation Authority.
Meanwhile, Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen appointed Adan Haji Ali as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Public Benefit Organizations (PBO) Regulatory Authority for a three-year term, effective July 24, 2026.
Energy Cabinet Secretary James Opiyo Wandayi appointed Faith Akiru Kuno to be a member of the EPRA Board of Directors for three years.
“The Cabinet Secretary for Energy and Petroleum appoints Faith Akiru Kuno to be a member of the Board of Directors of the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 24th of July 2026,” the notice read.
Rosemary Nyambura Njaramba, Philip Kibiwot Cherige and Hussein Abdinassir Mohamed have been appointed to the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation Board.
Treasury CS John Mbadi re-appointed George Murugu Muthui as the Chairperson of the Public Procurement Administrative Review Board.
Meanwhile, Thuo Mathenge’s appointment as Chairperson of the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organisation (KALRO) Board has been revoked.
