President Ruto Nominates Former IEBC Chair Issack Hassan,Ex-MP Jaguar To Gov’t Jobs

President William Ruto on Tuesday nominated former IEBC chairperson Issack Hassan to be the chair of the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA).

In a communique from State House, President Ruto had submitted Hassan’s name to Parliament for approval and subsequent appointment.

“The nominee is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with 30 years’ experience as a legal practitioner and consultant in various countries including Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Namibia, and Afghanistan. He is a former and inaugural Chairperson of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.

“Mr. Hassan holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B) from the University of Nairobi, a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law, and a Diploma in Contemporary Public Administration Management from Galilee International Management Institute, Israel,” the statement read in part.

President Ruto also nominated Ms. Ann Wanjiku Mwangi, Dr. Micah Onyiego Nyakego, Mr. Boniface Kipkemoi Samati, Dr. Annette Mbogoh, Hon. John Muchiri Nyaga, Mr. Kenwilliams Nyakomitah and Ms. Jackline Lukalo Mwenesi to be members of IPOA.

At the same time, President Ruto nominated Charles Orinda Dulo as Chairperson of the Commission on Administrative Justice (CAJ). Musician and former Starehe MP Charles Njagua Kanyi alias Jaguar and Ms. Dorothy Jemator Kimengech were named as members of the commission.

Ruto also nominated Sammy Chepkwony as the chairperson of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) and Major General (rtd) Martin Kizito Ong’oyi, Mohamed Aden Abdi, Jane Gatakaa Njage, Leonid Ashindu, Dr Gilda Odera and Dr Geoffrey Apollo Omondi as SRC board members.

Further, the Head of State nominated former Isiolo Woman Rep Rehema Dida Jaldesa to chair the National Gender and Equality Commission, with Michael Mbithuka Nzomo nominated to join the agency’s board as a member.

Additionally, Ruto nominated Gerald Nyaoma Arita as the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Kenya.

Nyaoma has previously held various positions within the Central Bank of Kenya, including Director, Financial Markets Development; Director, Banking Services; Director, Banking Supervision Department; Acting Director, Internal Audit Department; Senior Manager, National Payment Services Department; and Assistant Branch Manager, Mombasa Branch, among others.
