Youth Affairs Principal Secretary Fikirini Jacobs recorded a statement with the police following the tragic death of mobiliser Cecil Ouma.
Speaking on Thursday, July 2, PS Fikirini said he had recorded a statement with the police over the fatal shooting of Ouma after he was summoned.
PS Fikirini also said he was deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life and extended his heartfelt condolences to Ouma’s family and friends.
“I extend my deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of Cecil Ouma following his tragic and untimely death,” PS Fikirini said.
The Youth Affairs PS also said he will cooperate with the law enforcement agencies in the investigations into Ouma’s tragic passing.
“The circumstances around Cecil’s death remain distressing and are the subject of an active investigation. I believe no family should have to endure such a tragic loss. No youth should have their life end the way Cecil’s did.
“My commitment is that I will continue to make myself available for any investigations about this tragic death,” he stated.
PS Fikirini also disclosed that seven individuals, among them two members of his security team, have been questioned and are assisting detectives with the probe.

The police have so far seized two firearms from officers attached to the Touth Affairs Principal Secretary for forensic examination.
Ouma was fatally shot on Wednesday, July 1, during a youth empowerment programme in Kariokor, Nairobi County.
Preliminary reports indicate that Ouma had approached PS Fikirini’s vehicle to seek transport reimbursement for the youths he had mobilized.
He was rushed to Park Road Nursing Home for treatment but was reportedly pronounced dead on arrival.
A post-mortem examination conducted on the body of the deceased on Thursday confirmed Ouma died from a fatal gunshot wound.
