President William Ruto has appointed former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s sister Dr Wenwa Akinyi Oranga Odinga to be the chair of the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute(KEMRI) Board.
In a gazette notice issued on Friday, November 15, 2024, Dr Oranga to the position for the next three years.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 (1) (a) of the State Corporations Act, as read together with section 16 (2) and Fourth Schedule of the Science, Technology, and Innovation Act, 2013, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint— WENWA AKINYI ORANGA (DR.) to be the Chairperson of the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 15th November 2024,” the notice read.
Meanwhile, Ruto appointed Kidero to be the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenya National Trading Corporation. Kidero will serve in the role for a period of three years.
Similarly, President Ruto named Anab Mohamed Gure to be a member of the Nairobi Rivers Commission. The appointment also took effect immediately. Gure will serve a term of three years.
The President also appointed Mark Kosgei Chesergon to be the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kerio Valley Development Authority.
At the same time, President Ruto appointed Mark Lomunokol to be the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Sports Kenya, for three years, with effect from the 15th of November, 2024.
Theobald Wambugu was appointed to be Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Tana Water Works Development Agency, replacing James Gathaka Wanyaga whose appointment was revoked.
The Head of State also appointed Thuo Mathenge to be the Chairperson of the Board of Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization, for a period of three years. He will take over from Peter Weru Kinyua whose appointment was revoked.
