Safaricom PLC has announced planned system maintenance that will affect at least six Safaricom services.
In a statement on Saturday, October 26, the telecom said the disruption will be between Saturday 10 pm and Sunday 5 am.
Services that will be affected include all airtime top-up services, Okoa Jahazi services, and all airtime and M-Pesa bundle purchases.
Other services include all subscription services, post-paid payments, sambaza, Bonga, and SIM swaps.
“Dear Customers, We will carry out system maintenance and upgrades from 10 pm, 26 October to 5 am, 27 October 2024. During this period, you may experience an interruption in the following services: All Top up Airtime services. Okoa Jahazi services All Bundle purchases via Airtime and M-PESA All subscription services. Postpaid payments Sambaza, Bonga, and SIM Swaps Other than for the services listed above, all other services will remain available,” read part of the statement.
The telecommunication giant also apologized to its customers who will be affected due to the 7-hour disruption.
“We apologize for the inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to enhance our services,” Safaricom stated.
Safaricom celebrated its 24th anniversary since its inception on 23 October 2024. The company has over 30 million users in Kenya and over 50 million across Africa.
Innovation has led to the activation of customer-friendly products such as M-Shwari, KCB M-Pesa, and Fuliza, which make money from mobile services to attract more users.
