The Social Health Authority (SHA) has temporarily suspended MP Shah Hospital from its panel of contracted healthcare providers pending the outcome of ongoing investigations.
In a Public notice on June 24, 2026, SHA CEO Mercy Mwangangi said the suspension took effect on June 23 and applies to services offered under several key health funds.
The affected funds include the Primary Healthcare Fund (PHCF), the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF), the Emergency, Chronic and Critical Illness Fund (ECCIF), and the Public Officers Medical Scheme Fund (POMSF).
“The Social Health Authority (SHA) informs beneficiaries and the public that M.P. Shah Hospital has been temporarily suspended from the SHA panel of contracted healthcare providers, with effect from 23 June 2026, pending the conclusion of investigations,” said Mwangangi.
The SHA CEO assured beneficiaries currently admitted at the facility that they would continue receiving treatment until the completion of their current episode of care and eventual discharge.
“To ensure a seamless transition and continuity of care, beneficiaries already admitted at the facility before the suspension date shall continue receiving care till completion of their current episode of care and discharge,” Mwangangi stated.
Further, Mwangangi advised patients seeking new admissions, follow-up treatment, or other healthcare services during the suspension period to seek care at other SHA-contracted facilities.
The SHA CEO noted that the updated list of contracted healthcare providers can be accessed through its website and the Afya Yangu platform.
The authority also urged members who require assistance with referrals or continuity of care to contact its toll-free helpline, 147.
“SHA appreciates the cooperation and understanding of beneficiaries and stakeholders and remains committed to safeguarding access to quality and accountable healthcare services,” the notice added.
MP Shah Hospital has been among the private facilities contracted by SHA to provide services to beneficiaries under Kenya’s public health financing programmes.
