A 17-year-old girl is currently in police custody following the fatal stabbing of a 41-year-old man, identified as Collins Onyango, in Buruburu on Thursday morning, December 26, 2025.
The incident, which occurred at Onyango’s nephew’s residence, reportedly stemmed from a heated argument between the teenager and the deceased.
According to preliminary police findings, the confrontation escalated, leading the young girl, identified as Belinda Achieng’, to allegedly use a kitchen knife to stab Onyango in the neck.
A neighbor’s alarm prompted a swift response from residents and authorities. Onyango was rushed to Edel Vale Trust Jamaa Mission Hospital in Buruburu, but doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival due to critical injuries.
His body has since been moved to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital morgue for preservation and a post-mortem examination.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Buruburu quickly responded to a distress call regarding the violent altercation.
Belinda Achieng’ sustained minor injuries after a mob attempted to exact revenge, but police officers intervened, rescuing her and escorting her to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital for treatment before taking her into custody.
The kitchen knife believed to be the murder weapon was recovered at the scene and secured as evidence.
The DCI has taken over the case, and Belinda Achieng’ awaits arraignment.
