Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Oburu Oginga has flown to Dubai for a three-day visit.
In a statement on Saturday, November 22, Kisumu Women’s Representative Ruth Odinga said his brother travelled to Dubai to rest following a hectic political period.
“ODM Party Leader Oburu Oginga Has Travelled To Dubai For A 3-Day Visit To Rest Following A Hectic Political Period,” said Ruth Odinga.
Oburu, in a statement via X, also confirmed that he is out of the country, adding that he is in good health.
“Feeling grateful for good health and high spirits. Taking a short sabbatical to recollect, recharge, and reset,” the Siaya Senator stated.
Oburu’s trip to Dubai comes amidst wrangles in the ODM party among leaders over the party’s political position.
This is also Senator Oburu’s first trip out of the country since the death of his younger brother, the late Raila Odinga, in October.
The former Prime Minister died on October 15 after suffering a cardiac arrest during a morning walk at an Ayurvedic treatment facility in Kochi, India.
He was laid to rest on Sunday, October 19, at his ancestral home in Kang’o Ka Jaramogi, Bondo, Siaya County.
Raila was buried with his trademark hat and fly whisk, iconic items that defined his image throughout his political journey.
The late ODM leader was accorded a state funeral consistent with full military honours at the directive of President William Ruto.
Following his passing away, Oburu was named as the ODM party leader, taking over from him.
