Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has cautioned the ODM Party against forming a coalition with the ruling UDA party.
In a statement via X, Kalonzo questioned how the ODM party could align itself with President William Ruto, terming it a betrayal of Raila Odinga’s vision.
“You cannot rewrite history, and you cannot sanitise betrayal. William Ruto once called my late brother Raila “Mganga”, “Ule mtu wa vitendawili”, and they said “tutamsafirisha hadi bondo”. Yet today, some want us to believe that William Ruto and ODM share a “common vision”.
“Every Kenyan knows what Raila stood for. Justice. Fairness. Dignity of paychecks. Democracy that protects the people, not power that preys on them,” said Kalonzo.
The former Vice President observed that it was dishonest for ODM leaders to now claim they share a common vision with President Ruto.
“So how can anyone speak of a common vision when this regime is looting the country, selling state corporations like Safaricom and KPA, attempting to dispose of critical national infrastructure like JKIA, using police bullets on our youth, and intimidating leaders who speak out? How can there be a common vision when Raila and I fought for democracy, and this regime is determined to dismantle it piece by piece?” he posed.
The Wiper party leader said the ODM party should join the united opposition if they believe in Raila’s vision.
“If they truly believe in the vision of Raila Odinga, then the path is clear. Join the United Opposition and stand with the people for the good of our nation,” added Kalonzo.
The Wiper leader’s remarks come after the ODM party announced plans to open talks with other political parties, beginning with UDA, ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Meanwhile, the UDA Party has mandated President Ruto to negotiate with the ODM party ahead of the 2027 general election
