President William Ruto has appointed former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero to be the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenya National Trading Corporation (KNTC).
In a gazette notice dated Friday, August 15, Kidero will serve in the position for a period of three years effective November 15.
The former Nairobi Governor will replace Hussein Tene Debasso whose appointment was revoked as a result.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 (1) (a) of the State Corporations Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint EVANS ODHIAMBO KIDERO (DR.) to be the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenya National Trading Corporation, for a period of three years, with effect from the 15th November 2024. The appointment of Hussein Tene Debasso is revoked,” the notice stated.
Kidero makes a comeback to public service after President Ruto’s plan to appoint him as Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) in the Ministry of Trade failed.
At the same time, President Ruto appointed Mark Lomunokol to be the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Sports Kenya, for three years, with effect from the 15th of November, 2024.
Theobald Wambugu was appointed to be Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Tana Water Works Development Agency, replacing James Gathaka Wanyaga whose appointment was revoked.
The Head of State also appointed Thuo Mathenge to be the Chairperson of the Board of Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization, for a period of three years. He will take over from Peter Weru Kinyua whose appointment was revoked.
Nuh Nassir Abdi was named the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Animal Genetic Resources Centre. He will serve for three (3) years, effective from the date of appointment.
