A recent Infotrak Research & Consulting poll reveals that President William Ruto would secure re-election if presidential elections were held today, garnering 28% support.
The survey, conducted on December 19 and 20, 2025, highlights a competitive political landscape with significant voter uncertainty as Kenya approaches the 2027 General Election.
Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i emerges as Ruto’s closest challenger with 13% of the vote, followed closely by Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka at 12%.
Embakasi East MP Babu Owino surprisingly secured 7% support, placing him ahead of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who polled at 5%.
Other notable figures like Martha Karua and former Chief Justice David Maraga each received 2% support.
The poll also indicates a substantial level of voter indecision, with 25% of respondents undecided and an additional 4% preferring not to disclose their candidate choice. This collective 29% of uncommitted voters represents a critical swing segment that could significantly influence the 2027 outcome.
Infotrak CEO Angela Ambitho noted that “voter preferences remain highly malleable” at this stage of the electoral cycle.
Economic concerns are a primary driver of voter sentiment. The rising cost of living was cited by 46% of respondents as the most critical issue influencing their vote, followed by corruption and access to healthcare, both at 27%. These findings suggest that parties addressing these “everyday realities” stand the best chance of converting sentiment into support.
The survey utilized Computer Assisted Telephone Interviews (CATI) with a nationally representative sample of 1,000 adult Kenyans aged 18 and above across all 47 counties. It boasts a 99% response rate and a margin of error of ±3.10% at a 95% confidence level.
