Donald Trump

The newest edition of the Conservative Political Action Conference [CPAC] is underway in the US state of Maryland, where some speakers have sought to strengthen global populist movements, with one right-wing activist cheering the “end of democracy” in the United States.

The prominent right-wing meeting kicks off a four-day event full of passionate speeches, cultural debates, and furious electioneering, with delegates advocating for global populist objectives. Former US President Donald Trump is slated to speak at the conference on Saturday.

Javier Milei, Argentina’s strongman, is also among the featured speakers. During the opening session, El Salvador’s president urged American conservatives to “put up a fight” against “global elites” to reclaim their country.

With elections looming on numerous continents, including America, Europe, Asia, and South America, nationalist and anti-globalist parties are preparing for possible triumphs.

Despite initial optimism among centrists and liberals that the populist wave had subsided following events such as Brexit and Trump’s defeat in 2020, the movement continues to thrive in some locations.

On Thursday, former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon laid out a vision in which populist, nationalist leaders offer solutions to concerns such as government debt, immigration, and geopolitical threats.

Amid global instability, including conflicts in the Middle East and Europe, populist narratives have found fertile ground around the world. As debates at CPAC continue, the gathering highlights the possible consequences of a return to power for characters such as Trump.

While detractors warn of the potential upheaval, advocates view it as a necessary disturbance to long-standing globalist goals.

While the American Conservative event serves as a rallying point for the populist right, bringing together figures and supporters to champion nationalist causes, all eyes are on Trump as he takes the stage tomorrow and throws yet another challenge to the status quo of globalism from an influential conservative platform.
