Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris and her Republican adversary, Donald Trump, delivered contradictory messages on the campaign trail in the United States as they worked to sway undecided voters in the two weeks before Election Day.
Vice President Harris, who was campaigning alongside former Republican senator Liz Cheney on Monday, warned that former President Trump was a threat to democratic institutions.
As the election approaches, Harris has stepped up her attacks on Trump’s suitability for president, frequently labeling him “unstable” or “unhinged” and doubting his temperament.
“In many, many ways, Donald Trump is an unserious man, but the consequences of him being president of the United States are brutally serious,” Harris said at an event in Malvern in Pennsylvania, one of seven battleground states expected to decide the winner of the November 5 election.
Trump crisscrossed North Carolina on Monday to drum up support in the highly contested state.
On one visit to the hurricane-battered mountains, he pushed supporters to vote despite the difficulties they were experiencing.
While Harris argued that Trump was unsuited for office, the former president questioned the Biden administration’s competency.
Trump continued his critiques of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and sought to connect with working-class voters by touting his tireless efforts on his behalf.
Many Arab and Muslim Americans believe the Democrats have abandoned and misled them, particularly since the beginning of the Israeli massacre in Gaza, during which President Joe Biden has continued to lend unflinching support to Israel.
Trump’s visit to North Carolina on Monday coincided with Republican supporters’ concerns that hurricane Helene’s devastating devastation might reduce turnout in the battleground state’s conservative mountain regions.
