Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong’o has expounded her decision to end her relationship with Selema Masekela.
In an interview, Lupita disclosed that she was going through pain and decided to be transparent about her struggles with her fans.
“I was living in a lot of pain and heartbreak. I looked at the environment of my social media and thought I don’t want to be a part of this illusion that everything is always coming up roses. Surely there is a lesson for me to learn in this, and I just want to be real about it,” said Lupita.
The 40-year-old famed for “Black Panther” and “12 Years a Slave,” movies went on to say she needed a social media break following the split.
“That was very, very sage of me. I’m going back to those days, by the way,” she said.
Lupita further expressed her optimism about the future and the possibility of finding love again.
“Our purpose in life is to love. And so you have to get back in it,” Lupita affirmed.
Oscar Award-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o parted ways with her South African lover Selema Masekela on October 20 after dating for one year.
Lupita in a lengthy post on her Instagram account said could no longer trust anyone after the breakup.
“At this moment, it is necessary for me to share a personal truth and publicly dissociate myself from someone I can no longer trust. I find myself in a season of heartbreak because of a love suddenly and devastatingly extinguished by deception,” said Lupita.
